Irish National Law Debates Open 2010
12-13 February
The Irish National Law Debates has quickly established itself as one of the premier Intervarsitys on the debating calendar. Its post-world's open format allows you to team up with anyone you like, from your granny to that guy who just won worlds. Popular with old hacks who want one last shot at the title and competitive speakers who join from different institutions to test their mettle against the best combinations from others. However, the 'Galway IV's' real reputation lies in its commitment to bringing you the best socials in the 'city of tribes', THE party capital of Ireland.

A Word from the Convenor
Niamh, mid sing-songOn behalf of The Law Society (LawSoc) and Literary and Debating Society (Lit&Deb) of NUI, it gives me great pleasure to invite you once again to the Galway International Open, also known as the Irish National Law Debates. The competition is entering its 10th year and has really gone from strength to strength, raising the bar for Irish competitions in terms of "bang for your buck". The team cap is continuously expanding, the judging pool is always getting deeper, and our ambitions for excellence increase year on year. Past CAs, winning teams and tab toppers include a plethora of Euros and Worlds CAs, DCAs, winners and finalists and this is the calibre of debate and adjudication that we intend on bringing to you once again. This year, we are more eager than ever to show the world what we can do in Galway as we are currently competing in the bid to host the European Intervarsity Debating Championship in 2011. In light of this, we are focusing on demonstrating what a fantastic debating destination Galway is to the international circuit, while making it easier than ever for our friends across the globe to attend the competition.
